Limestone
Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed mainly of calcium carbonate and magnesium. The main distinguishable characteristics of limestone include calcite streaks or spots, fossils (shell formations) and natural open texture streaks. Limestone unlike marble and granite looks best with a sanded or honed surface finish…this maintains the natural look of the stone. Our limestone is quarried in Co.Kilkenny and is still the most commonly used building material in Ireland.
